The National Academy of
Agricultural Research Management (NAARM) was established by the Indian Council
of Agricultural Research (ICAR) at Hyderabad, in 1976, to address issues
related to agricultural research and education management. In the initial years,
the Academy primarily imparted foundation training to the new entrants of the
Agricultural Research Service of ICAR. Subsequently, its role expanded to
include research, capacity building of senior professionals of national and
international NARS in agricultural research and education management, and
policy and consultancy support to NARS. The Academy also renders services for
building IP portfolios like patents and geographical indications to various
stakeholders including farmers and scientists.
The activities of the Academy
cover a broad range of themes in three key areas: Agricultural systems
management and policies, Information and communication management and Human
resources management. The services of the Academy are sought nationally as well
as globally for enhancing individual and institutional performance and for
organizational renewal and change. Keeping in view the increasing emphasis on
the creation, dissemination, application and exchange of knowledge in this
vital area, the Academy initiated Post graduate education programs in
management in 2009 and has also established an Agribusiness Knowledge Center.
The Mandates of the Academy are:
To be an integrated school of agricultural management focusing on creation, dissemination and application of knowledge through its education, training, research, consultancy and policy support programmes;

To serve as an apex clearing
house for collection, compilation, documentation and dissemination of
innovative learning resources and practices in agricultural management followed
in India and other countries;
To work as a catalyst for
building and enhancing the capacity and competence of individual scientists and
institutions of India’s National Agricultural System (NAS) for addressing
contemporary issues in agricultural management;
To facilitate the organizational
renewal of the NAS and management of change;
To serve as a Think Tank for the
NAS and provide research-based expert inputs and advice to agricultural policy
makers, planners, administrators, and others;
To emerge as global thought and
knowledge leader in agricultural management; and,
To establish and foster
functional partnerships and effective networking with leading management
institutes of the world in order to emerge as global thought and knowledge programmes.
NAARM has dedicated itself to the
creation of young generation of leaders & Agri - business managers,
amalgamating sensitivity towards grass root level needs with corporate world
expertise. NAARM has started various academic programs as under;
(1) One
year Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology Management in Agriculture-
(PGD-ITMA) in regular mode.
(2) One year Post Graduate Diploma in Information
Intellectual Property and Technology Management in Agriculture (PGD-IPTMA) in
regular mode.
(3) The
two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Agriculture)-PGDM(A), which is
approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) in regular
mode.
(4) PG
Diploma in Technology Management in Agriculture (PGD-TMA) in Distance mode.
Presently, The academy is running two
courses only, which are PGDM (A) and PGDTMA. We will be updating details
of students, professionals and their various activities in the campus and business
world in our coming posts.
